Other texts that complement the picture of the UMMO affair

WARNING: We divide this panel into two distinct parts. A) In this part we include the SALIANO phone calls as well as several letters between people involved in the UMMO affair. B) In this part we include the posts on the Twitter network (later X) of a mysterious character whom we have called "Ephemeral Intermittent". This last character has explicitly asked us to state clearly that his identity is distinct from that of UMMO, which we hereby do.

A) In the early 1960s a singular man, Fernando Sesma, carried away by his imagination and his wishes, speculated on the possibility of contacting the mysterious beings who piloted the strange new "phenomena" that the media had come to call "Flying Saucers" or "UFOs". Fernando Sesma would walk through the Casa de Campo in Madrid sending telepathic messages to the skies and drawing symbols on the ground, in order to attract the attention of those supposed visitors from other planets or dimensions. As a result of this activity, or by pure chance, he was chosen as the recipient of some strange postal mailings from a self-styled entity called SALIANO.

At that time Fernando Sesma held a motley gathering, nicknamed "La Ballena Alegre" (The Merry Whale), in the basement of the Café Lión, then located in Calle Alcalá in Madrid. The gathering discussed esoteric subjects, spiritualism, oriental religions, symbolism ... and UFOs and extraterrestrials. When Sesma began to receive the strange letters from SALIANO, the excitement of the gathering reached fever pitch. Most of SALIANO's epistles were unintelligible, crammed with multicoloured drawings, symbols, riddles, surrealist poems, ironies and jests, as well as descriptions of fantastic worlds, AUCO, NIQUIVIL... and of the life of their supposed inhabitants. To most people it was clear that Sesma was the butt of a joke by a person or group, and they treated him as a madman, as an amusing but ridiculous character. Nevertheless, the great self-confidence and the conviction of having found the "philosopher's stone" that Fernando Sesma had made him immune to the mockery of a rabble that "could not see beyond the end of its nose", and he disdainfully ignored their laughter.

In January 1966 (perhaps earlier, but there is no written documentation of that), Sesma began to receive telephone calls and then letters from the beings of UMMO. With his taste for the magical, the esoteric and the symbolic, Sesma was never attracted by the rationalist and logical Ummite message, but he immediately incorporated it into his gathering.

At the end of the 1960s Fernando Sesma, disappointed, took his final leave of UMMO, although a significant part of the regulars of his gathering shifted their interest from SALIANO to UMMO.

Is the SALIANO affair a hoax? Is the UMMO affair a sociological experiment? For those of us who consider that the UMMO affair (without denying for a moment that it may be false) may be what it claims to be, we find that the UMMO beings validate SALIANO as genuine extraterrestrial beings.

Curiously, towards the end of the SALIANO cycle, that is, in the early 1970s, several communications from SALIANO were received in a language very different from the usual one. Likewise, Alicia Araujo received telephone calls from SALIANO, later transcribed by her, in which he, adopting a more realistic and less surrealist language, spoke of subjects that lead us to see SALIANO in a different light.

Since this site is devoted to UMMO, we have decided to include texts from this source -SALIANO- in this annex.

Some letters received from the supposed typist of the Ummites also have their place here.

Finally, we will also include here any communication or information that we think may be related to this affair or put it into perspective.
